Create A Buzz In Your Garden It's the most wonderful time of the year. Hummingbird season is upon us! The Bird Garden carries many types of hummingbird feeders that will suit every need, taste and yard including hanging and staked feeders. Some feeders are even designed with perches, which hummingbirds don’t need, but will use, to help them conserve some energy. These feeders are not only beautiful, they are functional.
Due to climate changes, developments and other hazards to our South, many in our area are not seeing the amount of Hummingbirds they have in the past. Unfortunately, many birds did not survive the migration due to lack of food sources killed off by late frosts and development. These conditions also caused other Hummingbirds to take a different migratory pattern North landing them in other areas.
Be patient and keep those feeders out and clean. Although you may not be seeing the Hummingbirds you have in the past, there are still opportunities to welcome new visitors, especially in the late Summer and early Fall when Hummingbirds who summered up North will begin migrating. They will need your nectar supplies and will remember them next season.
If you haven't already, make sure your hummingbird feeders are in good shape for another season. Plan to put your feeders in the same place they were in last year so returning birds can find them easily.
You aren't limited to feeders that are red or orange. The Bird Garden carries a variety of beautiful feeders in a rainbow of colors. To attract new migrating birds or help your returning birds find your feeders, tie a large red ribbon on or underneath your hummingbird feeder pole.
Hummingbirds love water too! Very shallow water in birdbaths is a big attraction and lifesaver to Hummingbirds. Adding a mister to an existing for these little speedsters will be an irresistible draw.
Feeders can also attract pests like ants and bees. You don't have to stop feeding hummingbirds because of this. Stop in our store to find a variety of effective ant and bee guards, and even types of feeders, which help prevent pests.
The Bird Garden carries a variety of “instant” nectars for easy refilling. The high energy nectar you provide gives the hummingbirds the boost they need to catch the insects that provide protein, vitamins and minerals.
